Mothematics works quite well in my life 数学はけっこう役に立っている

内項と外項の積？内項の積と外項の積？名前なんだっけ I thought that I hated math in my school days. Everyone said the math formulas we learned at school didn't work in our daily life, but now, can't deny the worth of it. Of course most of them are meaningless for me. but I use only one so often.( I don't know how to call it in English) 私は中高生の頃、自分は数学が大嫌いだと思っていたし、学校で習った数学なんて実際の生活には何の役にも立たないと誰もが言っていた。しかし、今は数学の価値を否定できない。もちろんほとんどの数式は私にとってどうでもいいものだが、ひとつだけ頻繁に使うものがあるのだ。 When I need to resize a box its width is 560 and the height is 340 into the one its width is 400, I use the formula. 560:340=400:x 560x=400×340 x=242.8571428 So, round off it and change the height to 243. 幅560・高さ340の四角形を、幅400に変えたい。その場合の高さを求めるとき、 560:340=400:x 560x=400×340 x=242.8571428 ということで、高さを四捨五入して243にする。 Especially, I used to use it everyday in analog graphic design before using computers became popular. Since we began to call layout paper work DTP, the formula disappeared in my daily life once. However it came back to me when I started to use the Internet frequently. When I put a picture here, I set the width 400. For "favorite YouTube" on the right hand, it's 200. ..... while writing this entry, I got anxious, could it be that, other people know better ways?? 特にコンピューターが普及する前の、グラフィックデザインがアナログ作業だった頃は毎日使ったものだが、版下作業をDTPと呼ぶようになってからはこの数式は一旦必要なくなった。しかしながら、インターネットを日常的に使うようになり復活した。ここへ画像を配置するには幅を400に設定し、右側のYouTubeは幅200。 …と、書いているうちに不安になってきたのだが、他の人たちはもっと良い方法を知っているのだろうか？
